She County, Anhui Province: Smart Chinese medicine project to help prevent epidemics in grassroots townships

Taking pulse, consulting, prescribing and taking medicine …… In the Chinese medicine hall of Xiakeng Town Health Center in She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, doctors patiently and carefully provide medical services for villagers. The Xiakeng Town Health Center serves a population range of nearly 30,000 people, and in addition to villagers from this township, there are also people from outside the area who come to the hospital by name.

“We now have a daily outpatient volume of about 70 people basically. Through half a month of verification, many patients, including those with fever, cough, sore throat and dry throat, and more phlegm, through Xiao Qing Long Tang to add and subtract, generally in about three to five days, the effect is more obvious now.” said Fang Qianjin, deputy director of Chinese medicine at Xiakeng Town Health Center.

She County is one of the birthplaces of Xin’an medicine, and Xin’an medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Currently, the number of visits to health centers in She County’s towns and villages has climbed significantly, and the public’s demand for medical resources is growing rapidly.

In 2021, She County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine launched the implementation of the “Internet+Wisdom Chinese Medicine Service” project, renovating the Chinese Medicine Pavilion and the decoction center, improving the software and hardware facilities such as the Chinese medicine beverage reserve, operation and personnel training, and completing the intelligent Chinese medicine treatment covering the 28 township health centers in the county, ” Internet + TCM diagnosis and treatment” and TCM continuing education and training platform, and remote consultation center for TCM experts, realizing online consultation between county TCM hospitals and township health centers.

Wu Shaorong, director of Xiakeng Township Health Center, introduced, “With the wisdom project, patients order Chinese medicine in 28 township health centers, and the county Chinese medicine hospital decocts it into soup to achieve full coverage of Chinese medicine distribution within the county, making up for the lack of Chinese medicine rooms in most township health centers.”

It is understood that the “intelligent Chinese medicine room” and other projects have played a role in the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic and the promotion of Chinese medicine services, as of the end of 2022, a total of 6,000 people for the township health centers to carry out Chinese medicine distribution services, had distributed 12,762 copies of preventive tonics for isolation point personnel.

In recent years, She County has promoted the revitalization of the whole industrial chain of TCM from theory to clinical, from Chinese herbal medicine to Chinese herbal drinks, from inheritance development to talent cultivation, and accelerated the construction of a strong county of TCM.
