It is reported that the city’s current outbreak began on September 28, and the virus belongs to the evolutionary branch of the Omicron BF.7 variant.
Shenzhen has a new round of outbreaks, the first BF.7 mutant strain was found
Guangdong Province on the 10th new local confirmed 38 cases (including 10 cases for asymptomatic infected to confirmed), asymptomatic infected 25 cases, involving Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shaoguan and many other places, including Shenzhen new local confirmed 14 cases, asymptomatic 19 cases.

Among all cases in the city since October 9, most of the infected strains were BF.7, BA.2.76 and BA.2.2 variants, with the BF.7 variant being the first detected in Shenzhen.
Prior to this, the BF.7 variant of Omicron was found in Hohhot and Ulanhot in Inner Mongolia, Shaoguan in Guangdong and Yantai in Shandong. It is reported that compared to other strains, BF.7 evolutionary branch has stronger infectivity, proliferation and escapability, which is very easy to cause the spread of a large area, the epidemic disposal, control difficulty than ever multiplied.
Shenzhen officials said that all infected people in the city are currently found in the early stages of the disease, the risk of a large-scale outbreak is low, the city’s epidemic prevention and control situation is generally under control. However, Shenzhen continues to face the risk and pressure of domestic and foreign epidemic importation, the epidemic prevention and control situation is very serious. For this reason, Shenzhen requires all incoming and outgoing personnel to perform “three days, three tests and three no’s” upon arrival, i.e. one test per day for three days, no dinners, no parties, no crowded places and no visitors during this period.

According to the briefing, the daily number of new local infections in Xinjiang is still high, the risk of community transmission is high, and the pressure to prevent rebound, spread and spillover is still formidable. Xinjiang insists on taking the prevention of spillover as the top priority of the current epidemic prevention and control, guarding the major channels in and out of Xinjiang and effectively preventing and controlling the risk of spillover of the epidemic. Relevant data show that since October 5, the number of infected persons reported daily in Xinjiang has decreased significantly, and the work of preventing spillover has achieved obvious results.
