The reporter learned from the Wuhan CDC that Wuhan has started the second dose of recombinant neocoronavirus vaccine for inhalation in people at high risk of infection, elderly people over 60 years old, people with more serious underlying diseases and people with low immunity.

On December 30, the Wuhan CDC Preventive Medicine Service Center was officially opened to the public to provide adult non-immunization planning vaccination services.

The center opened a vaccination appointment channel a day in advance, in which the much-anticipated recombinant neocrown vaccine for inhalation was quickly filled. It is reported that the recombinant new crown vaccine for inhalation has indeed been opened in Wuhan, and is not used for basic immunization at the moment, but mainly for the third booster vaccination, as well as the second booster vaccination for key populations.

According to the person in charge of Wuhan CDC, there are two main groups of people who are suitable for the recombinant new crown vaccine for inhalation.

First, people aged 18 years and above who have received two doses of inactivated vaccine from Sinopharm Zhongsheng Beijing, Kexing Zhongwei and Sinopharm Zhongsheng Wuhan, or who have received one dose of Kangxinuo intramuscular recombinant new crown vaccine and have not completed the booster vaccination, can use the recombinant new crown vaccine for inhalation for one dose of booster immunization. Among them, the interval between the booster vaccination and the last dose of basic immunization for people aged 18 to 59 years is ≥ 6 months; the interval between the booster vaccination and the last dose of basic immunization for people aged 60 years and above is ≥ 3 months.

Second, on the basis of the completion of the first dose of booster immunization, the second dose of booster immunization can be carried out using recombinant neocoronavirus vaccine for inhalation in people at high risk of infection, elderly people over 60 years old, people with more serious underlying diseases and people with low immunity. This includes one dose of inhaled recombinant neocoronavirus vaccine in addition to three doses of inactivated vaccine, or one dose of inhaled recombinant neocoronavirus vaccine after two doses of intramuscular adenovirus vector vaccine. The second dose of booster immunization should be given at least 6 months apart from the first dose.

The inhalation recombinant Neocrown vaccine uses a nebulizer to nebulize the vaccine into tiny particles that are breathed in through the mouth to reach the lung tissue and stimulate a triple immune response. Vaccine recipients simply exhale, then hold the nebulizer cup in their mouth, inhale deeply and hold their breath for five seconds to complete the vaccination.

Data from the study showed that the vaccine has good safety and efficacy after vaccination, with a low overall incidence of adverse reactions and better safety performance especially in the elderly.
