The medical treatment of patients with serious illnesses, in particular, the focus of work, go all out to organize medical treatment work, give full play to the past three years accumulated successful experience in medical treatment and effective measures, adhere to early intervention, early treatment, Chinese and Western medicine, multidisciplinary treatment, new coronavirus infection and treatment of underlying diseases, and do everything possible to improve the cure rate, reduce the death rate.

She mentioned that in order to scientifically analyze and judge the impact of the epidemic, we require medical institutions to focus on implementing patient treatment on the one hand, and at the same time, to scientifically and factually organize, collect, analyze and report information on the medical records of deaths. To improve the efficiency of reporting by medical institutions, we organized the development of a reporting platform for medical institution death case information, which was put into use on December 31, 2022. Healthcare institutions will report daily on deaths related to new coronavirus infections on the previous day starting December 31, 2022, and zero reporting will be implemented for those with no deaths. In addition, we required healthcare facilities to collect, summarize, and report deaths related to new coronavirus infections from December 8 to December 29, 2022 in a uniform manner. Due to the large amount of data and information, we organized experts to systematically analyze the death cases in order to reflect more scientifically, objectively and factually the deaths caused by neo-coronavirus infection in China, and in a responsible attitude to the people, so it took a long time.

According to Jiao Yahui disclosed that the analysis showed that from December 8, 2022 to January 12, 2023, a total of 59,938 deaths related to neo-coronavirus infections occurred in medical institutions nationwide, including 5,503 deaths from respiratory failure due to neo-coronavirus infections and 54,435 deaths from underlying diseases combined with neo-coronavirus infections. The average age of death cases is 80.3 years old, about 90.1% are 65 years old and above, of which about 56.5% are 80 years old and above. 90% of the death cases have combined underlying diseases, mainly combined diseases are cardiovascular diseases, advanced tumors, cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, metabolic diseases, renal insufficiency, because winter itself is a high incidence of respiratory diseases and cardiovascular diseases in the elderly. As the winter season itself is the season of high incidence of respiratory diseases and cardio-cerebral vascular diseases in the elderly, and the recent overlap with the new coronavirus infection, the number of elderly people who die is relatively high, which suggests that we should pay more attention to elderly patients and do our best to save their lives. The next step will be to update the relevant data and information to the community in a timely manner in accordance with the relevant provisions of the “B class B” infectious diseases.

The Health and Welfare Commission: insist that the nucleic acid-positive death cases will be judged as new crown death cases
