Ma Xiaowei said that since the outbreak of the new epidemic, President Xi Jinping has stressed the need to adhere to the people first and life first, resolutely win the battle against the epidemic, protect the lives and health of the Chinese people, and maximize the coordination between epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. China has been sharing information with WHO and other countries since the early stages of the epidemic, identifying the pathogens and sharing gene sequences at the earliest, and establishing a technical exchange mechanism with WHO. Since China took the initiative to optimize and adjust its epidemic prevention and control policies in response to the situation, the two sides have conducted many technical exchanges. China will continue to support the role of WHO and unite the international community in the fight against the epidemic.

Mr. Tandezai highly appreciated the Chinese government’s efforts to respond to the new epidemic and thanked China for the long-term technical exchanges and sharing of epidemic information and data with the WHO. The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation in epidemic prevention and control, and jointly maintain global health security.

Comrades in charge of relevant departments and bureaus of the National Health and Wellness Commission attended the event.
