National Health Commission: insist that nucleic acid-positive deaths be ruled as deaths related to new coronavirus infections

On January 14, the State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held a press conference, during which Jiao Yahui, Director General of the Medical Department of the National Health and Wellness Commission, said that China has always insisted on determining nucleic acid-positive neo-coronavirus deaths as neo-coronavirus infection-related deaths. The criteria are basically consistent with those of the World Health Organization and other major countries. The analysis of the causes of death associated with neo-coronavirus infection is divided into two categories: one is death from respiratory failure due to neo-coronavirus infection, and the other is death from underlying disease combined with neo-coronavirus infection.
