Sweden: Temporary restrictions on arrivals from China extended until February 18

The Swedish government issued a statement Jan. 27 saying it was extending the temporary restrictions on entry from China until Feb. 18.
The Swedish government’s restriction, which took effect on Jan. 7, requires all persons entering Sweden from China to provide proof of a negative New Coronavirus test, regardless of vaccination status. The measure does not apply to Swedish citizens, individuals who have been granted permanent residence in Sweden, individuals who are long-term residents of the European Union or the European Economic Area, and travelers with necessary family reasons.
At a regular press conference of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on January 16, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said that China has always believed that measures to prevent epidemics in various countries should be scientific and appropriate, should not affect normal people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between countries, should not adopt discriminatory practices, and should not take the opportunity to engage in political manipulation. Wang Wenbin pointed out that we hope that the countries concerned will take a scientific approach and, in the spirit of mutual respect, remove the discriminatory restrictive measures against China as soon as possible and work with China to restore normal personnel exchanges and cooperation.
