Experts rage, people protest: More than 400 people die every day from the new crown, while Biden says the pandemic is over
In an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes” on the evening of the 18th, local time, President Joe Biden declared that “the New Crown pandemic is over.” According to reports, Biden’s remarks immediately triggered fierce criticism.

Some public health experts said, “What Biden said is contrary to science.” It is reported that 400 to 500 people die every day in the United States due to new crown infections. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who previously announced he would step down in December, said the U.S. has not reached “the level we need to reach.
Local time on the 19th, a group of people suffering from the sequelae of the new crown infection “long new crown” gathered outside the White House to protest against Biden’s remarks. At the same time, sources said that Biden’s statement also surprised some U.S. health officials. Two U.S. government officials familiar with the situation revealed that Biden’s statement about “the end of the epidemic in the United States” was not the original plan to answer the question. The next day, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra had to urgently step in to clarify the situation.
Retired Florida professor: Don’t jump to premature conclusions
“We are still facing the problem of the new coronavirus and there is still a lot of effort to do so …… but the pandemic is over. You can notice that no one is wearing masks anymore and everyone looks healthy.” Biden said in an interview on Sunday (18).
“(But) for me, it (the new crown pandemic) is not over,” said a tearful Peter Goodman, 76. Last month, the retired Hofstra University professor in New York and his wife Debbie, 70, contracted the New Coronavirus at the same time. Now, he has recovered, but his wife tragically passed away from Neocon on Aug. 17.
Like the Goodmans, countless American families are still suffering from the fallout of the worst public health crisis in a century. For them, Biden’s comments are painful to hear.
“Let’s not jump to conclusions too soon.” McCosky-Ressette, a retired Florida business professor, said her mother died Aug. 6 from Neocon and her husband’s immune system was compromised by a Neocon infection, while she insisted on wearing a mask every day. She said, “Biden said, ‘Nobody wears a mask,’ and maybe that’s true, but is that really wise?”
Also disagreeing with Biden is Ben Schoberg, who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as “long new crown,” as a result of his new crown infection. The term “long neocon” refers to the persistence of neocon related symptoms for several weeks or months after the initial infection with the neocon virus.
↑Local time on 19th, many Americans suffering from Neovirus gathered outside the White House to protest
On the 19th, Schoberg was in a wheelchair and many Americans with Neocon gathered outside the White House to protest, shouting at the government that “the pandemic is not over” and calling for an urgent response. The protesters said they were sick and even disabled by the symptoms caused by the “new crown”. They want the White House to declare a national emergency on the “new crown” issue, and also demand that the government provide research, education, treatment and economic support for the “new crown” issue, and that the government continue to provide ways to prevent the spread of the new crown.
Some media outlets have countered Biden’s claims with a litany of data. Reports say the New Crown pandemic is certainly not over yet. Hundreds of deaths related to neo-crown are occurring every day in the U.S. and have remained at this frightening level since April of this year. The average daily number of new infections in the U.S. is still nearly 60,000, much higher than this spring, and about 32,000 Americans are still being hospitalized each day due to New Coronavirus infections.
↑ Currently, the average daily number of new infections in the U.S. is still nearly 60,000
The average life expectancy of Americans declines in 2020 and 2021 due to the New Coronavirus, the two largest declines in nearly 100 years. New coronavirus has become the third leading cause of death in the United States, behind heart disease and cancer. And the “long new crown” is threatening millions of Americans and continues to have a huge impact on the U.S. economy. The National Bureau of Economic Research reported last week that the disease associated with the new crown virus has reduced the U.S. workforce by about 500,000 people.
Biden’s comments challenged by several medical experts
In addition to the angry public, Biden’s comments have puzzled many U.S. public health experts. Some experts said, “Biden is completely wrong. First, the president of the United States does not have the authority to declare the end of a pandemic. Second, current U.S. data show that the New Crown pandemic is far from over.
“In this country, 400 to 500 people are still dying every day [from the New Crown pandemic],” said Dr. Carlos del Rio de Janeiro, an infectious disease expert at Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr. Peter, an infectious disease expert at the University of California, San Francisco, said “the New Crown pandemic is clearly not over” and began by talking about the annual number of New Crown deaths in the United States. According to the CDC, more than 223,000 people have died from NCC this year.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, also came out on the 19th local time and said that while acknowledging that the situation has improved, the current daily death rate is still “unacceptably high”. “We’re not where we need to be,” Dr. Fauci said. He also warned that new variants of the new coronavirus could still emerge, especially in the coming winter.
U.S. health secretary urgently steps in to “put out the fire”
After the controversy over Biden’s comments, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra had to step in and explain, “I think the president’s (words) reflect the feelings and thoughts of many Americans. The new crown epidemic has disrupted our lives for so long, and we are learning how to deal with this virus. But make no mistake, people are still dying from it.”
In addition to experts, many reports pointed out that Biden’s comments were “inappropriate.” After the interview aired, the U.S. government also had to respond to questions about whether the president’s comments would change any policy on the 19th, local time. In response, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services answered “no.” The agency said the program requirements related to the new crown public health emergency remain in effect.
↑ A recent Gallup poll found that two-thirds (66.7%) of U.S. respondents said they expect a “significant” or “moderate” increase in Newcastle pneumonia cases this fall and winter.
The report also noted that despite the statement that the “new pandemic is over,” much of Biden’s current domestic agenda is still closely tied to the pandemic. Late last month, the Biden administration announced the cancellation of $10,000 in student loan debt for some borrowers to ensure that they “are not in a worse financial position because of the pandemic. In addition, the White House has pressured Congress to allocate another $22 billion to fight the new pandemic. According to Jennifer Nozzo, director of the Center for Epidemic Preparedness and Response at Brown University’s School of Public Health, Biden’s comments “could complicate U.S. efforts to fight the epidemic” and the administration’s advocacy efforts to convince Americans to get the newly approved booster shots. And right now, a new surge of fall infections may be on the horizon. She referred to Biden’s comments in the interview as “an unfortunate snippet.
In Schoberg’s view, no matter what others think, their lives have been changed forever by the new crown outbreak. From his wheelchair, he said, “For us, there will never be a return to normalcy.” He had just led a group of chronic fatigue syndrome patients in a protest outside the White House, wearing T-shirts that read, “Still Sick. Still fighting.”
