On September 20, the official website of the Guangdong Provincial Health and Wellness Commission issued a notice requiring localities to promote the application of electronic health codes for vaccination. The notice requires that by the end of December 2022, cities and towns complete the promotion and application, and vaccination sites can generally use electronic health codes for vaccination.

What is the electronic health code?

How to use the electronic health code for vaccination?

It is understood that the Guangdong Provincial Health and Wellness Commission, based on the Guangdong Provincial e-health code platform, has connected with the Guangdong Provincial Vaccine Circulation and Vaccination Management Information System to develop and apply the e-health code vaccination service on line, and has completed the pilot project at the Twelfth People’s Hospital of Guangzhou City, Liwan Central Hospital of Guangzhou City, and Xinguan Vaccination Point (Social Health Center) in the Village of Tianhe District, Guangzhou City.

The application scenarios of e-health code vaccination include vaccination appointment, vaccination by bright code, automatic file creation and result inquiry.

Residents can receive and present the e-health code after completing real-name authentication (0-16 years old can be verified through the Guangdong Province birth medical certificate management system, 17-59 years old through the public security department’s face recognition, and 60 years old and above through the public security department’s household registration information verification) in the “Guangdong Health Pass” small program.

After scanning the electronic health code at the vaccination site to obtain personal information, it will be automatically synchronized to the Guangdong Province Vaccine Circulation and Vaccination Management Information System to improve personal vaccination information files, avoid manual entry by medical and nursing staff, reduce the burden on the grassroots, improve vaccination efficiency and information accuracy, and strive to achieve convenient and efficient vaccination for residents.

The notice mentions that by the end of October 2022, local municipalities will complete the pilot and application training according to the actual work. by the end of December 2022, local municipalities will complete the promotion and application, and vaccination points will be generally available for vaccination using electronic health codes. For the Shenzhen City, which does not use the Guangdong Province vaccine circulation and vaccination management information system, to complete the electronic health code vaccination construction, promotion work in accordance with the time node.
