The Municipal Health Commission informed this morning (October 17) that from 0-24 hours on October 16, 2022, there were no new confirmed cases of indigenous new crown pneumonia and 32 new indigenous asymptomatic infections, all of which were found in isolation control. There were 7 new confirmed cases of overseas imported New Coronary Pneumonia and 31 new asymptomatic infections, all of which were found in closed-loop control.

There were no new confirmed cases of indigenous New Coronary Pneumonia from 00-24 hours on October 16, 2022. One case was cured and discharged from the hospital.

Case 1 was of Chinese nationality, visiting relatives in the United States, departed from the United States and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 8, 2022, and was centrally isolated for observation upon entry, during which symptoms appeared. Case 2 was a Chinese national, visiting relatives in Canada, who arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport from Canada on October 10, 2022, and was placed under intensive quarantine upon entry for observation, during which he developed symptoms. The epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging findings were combined to diagnose a confirmed case.

Case 3 was a Chinese national who worked in Switzerland and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 11, 2022, via a connecting flight from Switzerland to France. Case 7 was a New Zealand national, visiting relatives in New Zealand, departed from New Zealand and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 15, 2022, and was placed under intensive quarantine for observation upon entry, during which she developed symptoms. Seven cases of overseas imported confirmed cases have been transferred to designated medical institutions for treatment, and 122 close contacts of the same flight have been traced, all of whom have been implemented for centralized isolation and observation.

Thirty-one cases of imported asymptomatic infections from abroad have been transferred to designated medical institutions for medical observation, and 570 close contacts of the same flight have been tracked and all have been implemented for centralized isolation and observation.

From 0-24 hours on October 16, 2022, 42 cases of asymptomatic infected persons were released from medical observation, including 15 cases of local asymptomatic infected persons and 27 cases of overseas imported asymptomatic infected persons.
