Luoyang City, the recent new crown strain monitoring results announced, no XBB, BQ.1 and other variant strains found prevalent
Since the new crown pneumonia, the Luoyang CDC has established a new crown virus surveillance network to provide a basis for flow traceability and scientific prevention and control by monitoring virus mutations. By the end of 2022, using this surveillance network, we monitored the emergence of Omicron variant strains BA.2.76, BA.5.2.20, BA.5.2 and other branches in our city through second-generation gene sequencing and third-generation gene sequencing, which reflected the sensitivity and effectiveness of our surveillance network.
With the gradual liberalization of the epidemic prevention and control policy, our center has increased the monitoring density of the new crown virus sequencing. At present, the strains monitored in our city are VOC/Omicron variant strains (BA.5.2 evolutionary branch), which are consistent with the mainstream strains prevalent in most regions of China and our province. No epidemic of XBB, BQ.1 and other variant strains, nor epidemic of non-Omicron variant strains such as primitive strains and delta have been found in the community.
With the superposition of factors such as virus mutation, decay of immune protection and accumulation of susceptible populations, it is expected that there will still be a risk of re-infection in the population. The CDC reminds the general public that personal protection should not be relaxed, intensive places should be visited less often, scientific norms should be followed to wear masks, wash hands regularly, ventilate often, do not pile up, gather less, get vaccinated, use public chopsticks, pay attention to cough etiquette, maintain a scientific mindset, be the first person responsible for their own health, and develop a civilized, healthy and green lifestyle.
