On January 10, Maoming City, Guangdong Province held its first epidemic prevention and control press conference this year to inform the latest work on the prevention and control of the epidemic in Maoming.

According to the analysis, the number of new infections in Maoming City crossed the peak on December 26, 2022, and the positive nucleic acid test rate and the number of fever outpatient visits have continued to decline since December 27, 2022, but the overall situation is still at a high epidemic stage, with more infections still present in the community and the demand for medical visits will remain at a high plateau for some time.

The release reminded that the epidemic may still fluctuate due to the frequent movement of people near the Spring Festival and Maoming’s status as a large population export city with many people returning home.

The staff of Maoming Health Bureau said at the meeting that in accordance with the overall plan of “Class B B Management” and around the goal of “protecting health and preventing serious illnesses”, Maoming Health Bureau will continue to do a good job in the new phase of epidemic prevention and control, expand the capacity of emergency medical services, treat patients in a graded manner, and highlight the importance of emergency medical services. The Bureau will continue to work on the prevention and control of the epidemic in the new phase, expanding the capacity of emergency medical services, treating patients at different levels and highlighting the protection of vulnerable groups.

In early December 2022, Maoming started the special work of setting up and opening fever clinics (clinics). Up to now, the number of medical institutions with fever clinics in Maoming has increased from 18 in early December 2022 to 40, and the number of medical institutions with fever clinics has increased from 114 to 125, achieving full coverage of fever clinics (clinics) in hospitals and township health centers (community health service centers) above the second level. Patients with fever can go directly to fever clinics (clinics) on their own if they have a need for medical treatment. As of January 9, there are 1,431 critical care beds and 2,044 pediatric beds in Maoming, meeting the national and provincial target requirements.

In terms of drug reserves, Yang Jie, deputy director of Maoming City Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, introduced that during this period of time, with the significant increase in the demand for drugs for the masses and medical institutions, the Maoming City Prevention and Control Materials Security Group urgently activated the emergency plan. At the request of Maoming City, the Guangdong Provincial Material Security Group has deployed four batches of emergency supplies to Maoming since December 22, 2022, effectively alleviating the shortage of supplies in Maoming. At the same time, the Maoming City Prevention and Control Material Security Group also docked pharmaceutical companies to provide Maoming with priority shortage drugs.

As of the afternoon of January 9, the main emergency prevention and control materials and medicines stockpiled in Maoming, including antigen detection reagents, medical protective masks (N95), ibuprofen suspension, ibuprofen tablets, acetaminophen tablets, damp and septic granules, and Lianhua clearing capsules, were available to meet the market demand. Overall, the number of drugs stocked by the government has basically reached about 10% of the resident population.

Next, Maoming City Prevention and Control Material Security Group will focus on the Spring Festival and the Spring Festival before and after the social drugs and grass-roots health centers, community health service centers with the demand for drugs, to assist drug retailers and grass-roots medical institutions in accordance with the proportion of 15%-20% of the total population served by the stockpile of drugs and medical equipment, to ensure that the masses buy drugs and medical treatment to carry out smoothly.
