Foreign Ministry: Some countries take entry restrictions only for China, lack of scientific basis
On Jan. 3, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning hosted a regular press conference.
A reporter asked a question, recently China announced that it will implement “Category B B control” of the new coronavirus infection and the introduction of “temporary measures for the movement of Chinese and foreign personnel”, many countries welcome this. However, some countries have started to take temporary preventive measures for travelers from China in the past few days, including post-entry testing and quarantine of positive persons. What is China’s comment on this?
Mao Ning said that after China issued the “Temporary Measures for the Movement of Chinese and Foreigners”, many countries have responded enthusiastically, which we appreciate, and will continue to optimize and adjust the preventive and control measures constantly in response to the epidemic situation, so as to create better conditions for the safe, healthy and orderly movement of Chinese and foreign personnel and better protect foreign exchanges and cooperation.
“On the issue of taking temporary epidemic prevention measures for Chinese travelers, my colleagues have already responded in the press conference a few days ago, and I would like to express the Chinese attitude again.” Mao Ning said we are willing to strengthen communication with the international community and work together to defeat the epidemic, but also believe that some countries take entry restrictions only for China, lacking scientific basis, and some excessive practices are even more unacceptable. We are firmly opposed to attempts to manipulate the epidemic prevention and control measures to achieve political ends, and will take corresponding measures for different situations and in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.
