Hainan Province, the new crown pneumonia infection network survey (December 12-18) results are available: the recent increased risk of infection, adhere to the “three sets”
On December 22, Hainan CDC released the “Results of the Network Survey on New Coronary Pneumonia Infection in Hainan Province (December 12-18)” (hereinafter referred to as the “Survey Results”), which was conducted based on online, and as of 21:00 on December 20, a total of 18,905 people had filled out the questionnaire.
The Results of the Survey pointed out that the national epidemic prevention and control entered a new phase from December 2022. The population infection and incidence in Hainan Province also show an increasing trend, and it is important to carry out surveillance of the whole population infection in Hainan Province for prevention and control decisions during the optimal prevention and control phase. To this end, the “Hainan CDC” WeChat public website launched an online survey on December 19, 2022, in an attempt to understand the new crown infections and morbidity of Hainan residents in the past week (December 12-18, 2022).
Meanwhile, official microblogs such as Hainan Epidemic Prevention and Control, Healthy New Hainan, Civilized Hainan, Chengmai Propaganda, Hainan Wuzhishan Propaganda, and Sanya Visitor Center, as well as official media such as Hainan Daily, Nanhai Network, New Hainan, Hainan Radio and Television, and Sanya by Sight and Sound were widely reprinted. By 21:00 on December 20, a total of 18,905 people had filled out the questionnaire. The following are the main results, but it should be emphasized that since this survey is a web-based survey, the sample representativeness and sample size have their own particularities, and the results are for reference only.
Cumulative infection rate in the past week
The Results of this Survey show that out of a total of 18905 people surveyed, 1051 people self-reported having been infected with neo-crown from December 12-18 (5.6% of the survey population), including 498 people who self-reported positive nucleic acid tests, 346 people who tested positive for antigens, and 207 people who had significant symptoms but did not perform the test (128 of whom had neo-crown cases in their family members). Figure 1 shows a graph of the daily number of new crown infections in Hainan Province from December 12 to December 18, 2022, with the overall trend showing a significant daily increase in the number of daily infections.

Symptoms of infected patients
Figure 2 shows the distribution of symptoms among infected patients, the most common symptom is fever (86%), followed by muscle pain (73%) and cough (70%), etc.

As shown in Figure 3, the cumulative infection rate in Hainan Province was higher in males than females from December 12-18 (week), with a higher rate in the 10-19 years old group (11.4%) and a higher rate in students (12.2%). The survey population had the highest cumulative infection rate in Sanya (9.7%), followed by Ding’an (8.8%) and Haikou (8.8%).

Preliminary conclusion:
Increased risk of recent infection
Based on the results of this online survey, the number of infections in Hainan Province showed a continuous increase from December 12-18. The trend is expected to increase further in the near future. The “Hainan CDC” calls on everyone: the risk of infection has increased recently, please adhere to the three sets: standardize the wearing of masks, wash hands regularly, and maintain social distance. The new crown pneumonia vaccination according to the regulations. Each person is the first person responsible for his or her own health.
