The Hong Kong SAR Government issued a press release on August 4 indicating that children aged between six months and three years old can receive the Coxin vaccine starting today. The Secretary for the Civil Service, Ms. Rebecca Yeung Ho, visited a kindergarten-cum-child care center in To Kwa Wan today to inspect the vaccination of young children and urged parents to arrange for their children to receive the new crown vaccine as early as possible.

Earlier, the Hong Kong government announced on August 2 that after considering expert opinion, the Secretary for Medical and Health has approved the lowering of the minimum age of vaccination for the Kratom (Coxin) vaccine from three years to six months for “off-label use. Based on relevant clinical trials and local studies on adolescent vaccination, experts believe that young children between the ages of six months and less than three years can receive three doses of Kratom vaccine (at the same dose per dose as other older children and adults), at the same intervals as older children. The vaccine is available in Hong Kong and the vaccination schedule will be announced this week.

As for the Fibrate vaccine, experts also recommend three doses of the vaccine (one tenth of the adult dose per dose) for children aged six months to under five years. The Hong Kong government is discussing with the relevant pharmaceutical companies to purchase a specific formula for children.
