The HKSAR government announced on December 22 that as the three new crown vaccines available in Hong Kong have been officially registered, the private market can purchase them from pharmaceutical companies and provide them to those in need, and the government’s New Crown Vaccination Programme will also adjust the vaccination arrangements, with priority being given to Hong Kong residents for the Fosmidai bivalent vaccine, children’s and young children’s formula vaccines from December 23 onwards, while non-Hong Kong residents will continue to be provided with free Non-Hong Kong residents will continue to receive the Fosfomycin original strain vaccine and the Coxin vaccine free of charge, as well as the new crown vaccination service at private doctors, clinics and hospitals in Hong Kong at their own cost outside the government vaccination programme.

The HKSAR government announced earlier that the three vaccines, namely Fubatai original strain vaccine and bivalent vaccine, as well as Keraflex vaccine, supplied to Hong Kong by two drug manufacturers, Fosun Pharmaceutical and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei, have been registered as pharmaceutical products in Hong Kong under the Pharmacy and Poisons Regulations, and the drug manufacturers may sell and supply these vaccines to private healthcare professionals. The government understands that the two drug manufacturers are actively seeking to supply the vaccines to the private market as soon as possible.

In addition, starting from December 23, priority will be given to Hong Kong residents for the provision of the Fubatai bivalent vaccine and the paediatric and paediatric formula vaccines under the HKSAR Government Vaccination Programme, while non-Hong Kong residents will continue to be provided with the Fubatai original virus strain vaccine and the Coxin vaccine free of charge. Non-Hong Kong residents who meet the requirements of the GVP before the implementation date of the new arrangement (December 23) and have received the new vaccine in Hong Kong or have registered for the GVP can still choose to receive the Fovitai bivalent vaccine and paediatric and paediatric formula vaccine free of charge by providing their vaccination or appointment records for verification at the time of appointment and at the vaccination site. Non-Hong Kong residents can also receive vaccination services for the new crown at private doctors, clinics and hospitals in Hong Kong at their own cost outside the Government Vaccination Programme.

The Government reminds that private healthcare professionals must refer to the registration details and labeling guidelines of the vaccine and take into account relevant factors, including the health and personal conditions of the vaccine recipients, when administering the registered NCC vaccine to the public. Healthcare professionals are also required to collect personal data of vaccine recipients and must report to the Director of Health using the MediHealth (subsidized) system to assist the government in collecting comprehensive and accurate vaccination records for the new crown vaccine.
