Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said at a New Year’s press conference on January 4 that travelers entering Japan from China from the 8th will have to provide a negative certificate, and that testing at the time of entry will be changed from qualitative antigen testing to more accurate PCR testing and quantitative antigen testing.

At a regular press conference of the Chinese Foreign Ministry held on the 4th, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in response to related inquiries that we have repeatedly introduced China’s position on this issue in recent days. China has always believed that countries’ epidemic prevention measures should be scientifically appropriate, should not take the opportunity to engage in political maneuvering, should not have discriminatory practices, and should not affect normal personnel exchanges and cooperation.
