Reporters visited some hospitals in Hefei: the number of fever outpatient visits fell and basically returned to the daily level

“From the beginning of December last year, the number of patients attending the fever clinic gradually increased until December 18 when our hospital’s fever clinic began to see a peak in attendance.” Medical staff at the fever clinic of the Third People’s Hospital of Hefei said that on December 18, 2022, the hospital’s fever clinic saw a peak in visits, with the peak number of visits reaching more than 1,000 per day. During the peak consultation period, patients were lined up outside the entrance, and the corridors and halls were filled to capacity. “From about January 2 of this year, the number of visits to the fever clinic gradually dropped to more than a hundred per day.” It is reported that from January 12, the number of visits to the hospital’s fever clinic returned to the daily level before the outbreak, with around thirty visits per day.

In the fever clinic of Hefei Second People’s Hospital, several patients and their accompanying persons were lining up for consultation under the guidance of medical staff. The person in charge of the outpatient clinic told Da Wan News that after December 8, 2022, the number of patients going to the hospital’s fever clinic gradually increased until the peak in mid-December, “There were more patients attending the clinic during that time, and at the peak, including the emergency room, there were more than 1,200 fever patients attending the clinic a day.” According to the report, after mid-December 2022, the number of patients seen at the hospital’s fever clinic began to decline. “At the end of December, the number of daily visits to our outpatient clinic was about 200 people, which included some pediatric patients.” During the Spring Festival the hospital’s fever clinic attendance has returned to daily levels, with about a dozen visits per day.

Subsequently, Da Wan News reporter learned from the fever clinic of China University of Science and Technology Annex I Hospital (Anhui Provincial Hospital) that the number of fever clinic visits at the hospital gradually increased from Dec. 10, 2022, reaching a peak in mid-December for treatment. “Starting from late December, the number of visits to our hospital’s fever clinic began to fall back, and now it is basically back to normal working order.” The person in charge of the hospital’s fever clinic said.
