On October 17, 2022, from 0-24 hours, one new confirmed case of indigenous new coronary pneumonia and 14 asymptomatic infections were detected in isolation control. One new confirmed case of imported New Crown pneumonia from abroad and 27 asymptomatic infections were found in closed-loop control.

Status of local cases

On October 17, 2022 from 00-24 hours, there was one new confirmed case of indigenous New Coronary Pneumonia.

The case resides in Songjiang District and is a close contact of a previously reported infected person in the city who returned to Shanghai from a foreign province. The nucleic acid test result of the new coronavirus was abnormal during the isolation and control period, and the result was reviewed by the CDC as positive. The comprehensive epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging findings led to the diagnosis of a confirmed case.

The case is of Malaysian origin, living in Malaysia, departed from Malaysia and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 12, 2022, and was centrally isolated for observation upon entry, during which symptoms appeared. The comprehensive epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging findings led to the diagnosis of a confirmed case.

The overseas imported confirmed case has been transferred to a designated medical institution for treatment, and close contacts of the same flight have been previously implemented for centralized isolation and observation.

The situation of overseas imported asymptomatic infected persons

On October 17, 2022 from 00-24 hours, there were 27 new cases of imported asymptomatic infections from abroad.

Asymptomatic infected person 1 is a Chinese national, working in Malaysia, departed from Malaysia and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 9, 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering the customs, during which routine nucleic acid testing was abnormal. Asymptomatic infected person 2 was of Chinese nationality, visiting relatives in the United States, departed from the United States and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 9, 2022, and was centrally isolated for observation upon entry, during which routine nucleic acid testing was abnormal. After screening, the nucleic acid test result of the district CDC for new coronavirus was positive. Twenty-seven cases of imported asymptomatic infections from abroad have been transferred to designated medical institutions for medical observation, and 433 close contacts of the same flight have been tracked, all of whom have been implemented for centralized isolation and observation.

From 0-24 hours on October 17, 2022, 39 cases of asymptomatic infected persons were released from medical observation, including 12 cases of local asymptomatic infected persons and 27 cases of overseas imported asymptomatic infected persons.
