The new coronavirus is not a “big flu” but a “small AIDS”, don’t believe it!
In recent times, a saying has started to spread on the internet and among friends that “New Crown is not a big flu, but a small AIDS”. Some people even swear that “many of the new crown drugs are actually originally used as anti-AIDS drugs”.
Let’s start with the conclusion: New Coronavirus is not a “small AIDS”!
The New Coronavirus is not a “small AIDS”
In June 2022, Zhao Ren, vice president of Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, said in an interview with Look News, “The new coronavirus of Omicron BA2 has two functions, one similar to SARS and another similar to AIDS, which has an obvious suppressive function on immunity. So this part of the patient during the onset, at the peak, his lymphocyte count is very low, and his lymphocyte count and his prognosis is in a close correlation.” ①
Fact Sheet
Is there a relationship between the new coronavirus and the cancer virus? Let’s take a look at some of the differences in the pathogenesis of the two.
- Different pathogenesis
First of all, HIV is not a coronavirus. The full name of AIDS is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Compared to other diseases, the biggest difference of HIV is that it attacks the immune system of the human body, taking the most important CD4T lymphocytes of the human immune system as the main target, destroying a large number of these cells and causing different degrees of immune deficiency. Untreated infected patients are prone to complications of various serious infections and malignancies in the late stages of the disease. ②
The full name of the new coronavirus is “novel coronavirus”. When the Omicron strain enters the human body, the respiratory system, or upper respiratory tract, is the first to be affected, usually with symptoms such as dry cough, coughing and sore throat. However, it does not destroy the body’s immune system and cause immune deficiency like HIV does. When the New Coronavirus is cured, it does not lead to a greater susceptibility to other diseases, and the New Coronavirus can be cured.
- Different transmission routes
There are three ways of HIV infection: sexual transmission, mother-to-child transmission and blood transmission. In daily life, shaking hands, hugging, and courtesy kissing with AIDS patients will not cause transmission; using public facilities such as telephones, handrails, and swimming pools once used by AIDS patients will not cause transmission; coughing and sneezing will not spread AIDS, nor will mosquito bites.
New Coronavirus infection is mainly transmitted through the respiratory tract, and can be transmitted through the air and objects as a medium. The virus can be transmitted through the air and objects as a vector. The virus will be expelled into the air through breathing, sneezing, spitting, etc. The virus will drift in the air with the droplets and cause infection if it is inhaled by normal people. If the virus is on the surface of an object and a healthy person touches it with his or her hand, it may stick to the hand of a healthy person, and if the hand of a healthy person comes into close contact with the mouth and nose, the virus may be sucked into the respiratory tract, which will also cause viral infection.
- Different treatment options
The most important difference between AIDS and other diseases is that there is currently no cure. At present, there is no effective drug that can completely kill the AIDS virus, so there is no cure for AIDS. The main purpose of current drug therapy is to control the HIV virus and avoid complications.
And the new crown virus can be completely cured. For people with normal body immune function and no underlying disease, they can be cured after taking some symptom relieving drugs (fever reducer, cold medicine, cough medicine) patient discomfort symptoms, or taking new crown drug treatment.
Moreover, there is not enough evidence to confirm that Neocoronavirus causes lifelong effects on the immune system like AIDS, and Neocoronavirus does not persist in the human body for a long time.
Why are Neocon treatment drugs
is also a relevant drug for AIDS treatment?
On January 6, 2023, Azivudine and nematovir tablet/ritonavir tablet combination package (paxlovid) were included in antiviral therapy in the “Treatment Protocol for Novel Coronavirus Infection (Trial Version 10)” released by the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NACM).3 Azivudine and ritonavir in paxlovid are all drugs for AIDS, so why can they be used to treat neo-coronavirus?
“Although the new coronavirus is different from the AIDS virus, it belongs to the same RNA virus and both use RNA as genetic material, so some of the drugs for treating AIDS have the same targets as those for treating the new coronavirus.” Zhang Yatong, deputy director of the Department of Pharmacy at Beijing Hospital, told People’s Daily Health Client on Jan. 10, 2023. ④
Azivudine was a drug for AIDS before it was approved to treat neo-crown. in July 2021, Azivudine was approved for marketing as an anti-AIDS drug, the world’s first dual-target anti-AIDS innovation. Pfizer’s neo-crown drug nematovir tablets/ritonavir tablets combination package, on the other hand, is a combination package that includes nematovir tablets, ritonavir tablets, of which ritonavir is a human immunodeficiency virus type 1 protease inhibitor, also used in anti-HIV drugs, but in this combination package is mainly used to delay the metabolism of nematovir by CYP3A4 and maintain effective blood levels of nematovir in the body.
“The mechanism of action of global anti-neo-coronavirus drugs can be summarized into two main categories, one is to prevent the binding of virus and host cells, and the other is to prevent the production of new virus in host cells, such as 3CL and RdRp,” said Zhang Yatong, “Pfizer’s nematuvir tablets/ritonavir tablets combination package uses is 3CL, and the mechanism of action is by inhibiting the action of the 3CL protease, thus preventing a series of subsequent replication activities of the virus.” ④
Finally, it can be seen that NIV and HIV are not related in any way, from the virus itself, to the pathogenesis, transmission, and treatment options. Therefore, the new coronavirus is not a “mini-AIDS”! Such “rumors” are just creating anxiety, don’t believe them!
