Yesterday, the city found a case of imported monkeypox outside the country, the case is a foreign transit Chongqing entry of foreign provincial personnel.

After entering Chongqing, in accordance with the requirements of the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the implementation of closed-loop transfer and centralized isolation of medical observation, during the centralized isolation, epidemic prevention personnel in the routine health monitoring of his rash and other symptoms were found, in accordance with the city’s “Notice on good monkeypox surveillance work” requirements, the entry of the sampling and monkeypox cases nucleic acid testing, by the Chongqing CDC laboratory testing and China CDC review, the laboratory results show positive monkeypox virus nucleic acid, the National Health and Health Commission organized experts to diagnose a confirmed case of monkeypox.

The case is under intensive isolation treatment at the designated hospital and is in stable condition. To date, the case has tested negative for nucleic acid of the new coronavirus.

The city’s Health and Wellness Commission acted quickly, promptly reported to the National Health and Wellness Commission and the National CDC, and under the guidance of experts from the China CDC, organized municipal experts quickly rushed to the scene to guide the epidemiological investigation, sampling and testing, and disinfection of environmental items.

Up to now, the close contacts of the case have all implemented isolation medical observation measures. According to the national “Technical Guidelines for Prevention and Control of Monkeypox (2022 Edition)”, the isolation medical observation time is 21 days. All close contacts have now been tested for monkeypox nucleic acid and the results were negative. After comprehensive research and evaluation by national and municipal experts, the case entered Chongqing on a closed-loop transfer and centralized isolation, with no social surface activity trajectory and low risk of epidemic transmission.

The next step will be to further strengthen the prevention and control of monkeypox epidemic among inbound personnel, in accordance with the relevant national regulations, standardize the implementation of monkeypox virus nucleic acid testing to achieve early detection, early reporting, early disposal and early isolation. At the same time, it will also further strengthen the technical training of medical workers to improve the ability to identify, report, and diagnose and treat monkeypox epidemics to effectively protect people’s life safety and health.
