At the end of the year, working farmers and college and university students return home one after another. In Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, located in the western part of Guanzhong, the prevention and control of epidemics in rural areas ushered in a critical period.

In order to ensure that the rural areas are smoothly “pressed” and “passed the peak”, the local health department procured and equipped “four types” of drugs in advance, and sent support and treatment teams to township health centers and village health offices. Teams, and gradually equipped with oxygen machines, blood oxygen monitors and other equipment.

In the central health center of Qishan County, Baoji City, recently, nearly 100 patients were seen and treated every day, including many middle-aged and elderly febrile patients with underlying diseases. In order to improve the efficiency of treatment, the health center has integrated the blood oxygen monitors originally used in a scattered manner to fully protect fever patients. At the same time, the local epidemic situation was studied and a special oxygen area was set up in the hospital, which can serve more than 20 patients at the same time.

Local village health offices actively play a role in ensuring that medicines are not discontinued and that village doctors do not leave their posts. At the same time, the active role of Chinese medicine in the rescue and treatment of the new crown was given full play to enrich the means of antiviral treatment.

At the health office of North Star Village in Qishan County, physicians and nurses perform traditional medical techniques such as tui-na and acupuncture, effectively relieving the symptoms of back and leg pain during the recovery process of patients with new crown. At the health office of Nanxing Village in Qishan County, village doctors decoct Chinese herbal tonics to relieve patients’ discomfort such as sore throat, chest tightness and dry cough, shortening the course of illness and alleviating the condition through the combination of Chinese and Western medicine and the use of Chinese and Western medicines.

In the face of the actual epidemic prevention and control in rural areas, local health care workers took multiple measures to strengthen medical treatment and material reserves to protect the health of the public to the maximum extent.
