The reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Medical Supplies Emergency Protection Task Force that through a series of initiatives such as the transfer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and assistance from other provinces, overseas procurement, and increased production by local pharmaceutical enterprises, the pressure to protect the public’s medicine in Beijing has been eased, but it is still in a “tight balance”.
This reporter visited several tertiary medical institutions and community health service centers in Beijing and found that the most recent demand is still for drugs to reduce fever, antiviral and treat cough and sore throat.
Compared to a week ago, the reporter found that the number of people coming to the hospital for prescriptions had decreased a lot. Medical institutions are also better meeting patients’ medication needs through measures such as remote prescribing at Internet clinics, express delivery to homes, and new medication pick-up clinics.
To ensure the supply of drugs, local pharmaceutical companies in Beijing are also increasing their production, and some pharmaceutical companies have doubled their output and are continuing to expand their production capacity.
