HKSAR government cancels mandatory quarantine arrangements for people infected with new coronavirus from Jan. 30

The HKSAR Government said on January 27 that the mandatory quarantine arrangement for people infected with the new coronavirus will be abolished from January 30, and all those who test positive will not be required to report and submit their personal data through the online platform of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health. The SAR Government will also adjust the scope of free nucleic acid testing services provided by community testing centers and testing stations, including discontinuing the provision of free “test-if-you-want-to” testing as appropriate, and focusing resources on the protection of high-risk sites and people who require regular nucleic acid testing.
At the same time, the head of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health will no longer issue quarantine orders under the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations (Cap. 599A) to people infected with the new coronavirus, and the government will publish daily positive nucleic acid test samples and the number of deaths due to the new coronavirus on the website of the new coronavirus, instead of the current press release.
The SAR government said that those who are under quarantine in designated premises will not be required to remain in quarantine from January 30, and those in quarantine facilities will leave in an orderly manner. At the same time, the distribution of anti-epidemic kits to those who tested positive will be stopped.
