In early 2020, Wuhan was hit by a sudden epidemic of Neoguan pneumonia. As the “gatekeeper” of national treasures, Fang Qin and 75 “comrades” together with 24-hour shifts, closed in Hubei Provincial Museum on duty for more than 80 days, and finally protected the entire museum of cultural relics without fail. October 16, the twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China opened in the Great Hall of the People, Xi Jinping on behalf of the 19th Central Committee to the General Assembly report. Xinjing News shell financial reporter exclusive interview with the twentieth delegates – Hubei Provincial Museum Director, Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology President Fang Qin.

“It’s actually a very simple story. At that time when the epidemic first occurred, we, like all the people of Wuhan, did not yet understand the situation very well, and being on the scene made it easier to deal with many problems and to feel more at ease and reassured.” Speaking of this experience, Fang Qin seems to have taken it lightly.

Fang Qin took the opportunity of the interview to express his gratitude to his counterparts in Wenbo. “During the epidemic, we received a lot of support from various cultural and museum colleagues across the country, who sent us masks, medicines, and even some food. These concerns eased some of our difficulties and gave us great encouragement as well as the confidence to overcome the difficulties.” Fang Qin said.

What made him feel most emotional was that he “accidentally” discovered the significance of the “cloud shopping exhibition” because of the epidemic. “During the epidemic, people asked when the museum would be open, and then we launched an online museum tour, and more than 10 million people watched our live broadcast, which impressed me a lot and showed me the development space of online museums.” Fang Qin said.
