The year 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the Patriotic Health Movement, and on December 27, the 2022 National Patriotic Health Movement Conference was held in Beijing on the theme of “70 Years of Patriotic Health – Advocating a Civilized, Healthy, Green and Environmentally Friendly Lifestyle and Helping to Normalize Epidemic Prevention and Control”.

He said that over the past 70 years, the patriotic health movement has always adhered to prevention, focusing on solving the outstanding environmental health problems affecting people’s health and comprehensively improving the health quality of the whole nation, which has created a world miracle and won high praise from the general public and the international community by achieving higher health outcomes at lower costs.

At the beginning of 2020, Hubei Province launched the ten actions of patriotic health campaign, all-round multi-level joint efforts to win the Wuhan defense war and Hubei defense war of epidemic prevention and control, wearing masks, washing hands regularly, not gathering and vaccination became the health consensus.

Zhengding County, Hebei Province is the leader of the national rural toilet transformation. In the day’s activities, the Standing Committee of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee of Hebei Province, Zhengding County Party Secretary Wang Junhong introduced the Zhengding County Xihe Village comprehensive promotion of rural “toilet revolution” and rural revitalization, domestic sewage treatment, beautiful countryside construction achieved remarkable results: the creation of 72 provincial beautiful countryside, to create a beautiful courtyard more than 60,000 households.

The patriotic sanitation campaign is a successful practice of the Party’s application of the mass line to health and disease prevention work. At the beginning of the founding of New China, when epidemics were prevalent in urban and rural areas and the environment was dirty and disorderly, Comrade Mao Zedong personally inscribed an inscription and launched a vigorous patriotic sanitation campaign nationwide.

Over the past 70 years, the patriotic sanitation campaign has carried out effective mass sanitation activities and played an important role in safeguarding people’s health, which is a major project to benefit the people. Yu Xuejun, director of the National Patriotic Health Office, director of the Health China Action Promotion Office, member of the party group and deputy director of the National Health and Wellness Commission, sent a written message for the conference: the fine tradition of the 70-year patriotic health movement should be further inherited, health knowledge should be vigorously popularized, a civilized, healthy, green and environmentally friendly lifestyle should be advocated, everyone should be the first person responsible for their own health, and the construction of healthy towns and healthy cells should be promoted in depth. Promote the integration of health into all policies and build a solid foundation for the construction of a healthy China.

Since the 18th Party Congress, the Party Central Committee and the State Council have held a national health conference, established the guidelines for health work in the new era, issued the “Health China 2030” planning outline, and implemented the Health China strategy. The State Council issued the “Opinions on the Further Development of Patriotic Health Campaign”, making comprehensive arrangements for the patriotic health campaign.

Since the 18th Party Congress, China’s urban sanitation work has made positive progress, with more than 10 billion square meters of urban roads swept and cleaned nationwide, more than two times more than 10 years ago; the total number of urban public toilets is nearly 340,000, up 50% from 10 years ago.

Since 2018, the Party Central Committee and the State Council have taken improving the rural living environment as a hard battle to comprehensively promote rural revitalization, and successively deployed the implementation of the three-year action to improve the rural living environment and the five-year action to improve and upgrade it. By the end of this year, the prevalence of rural sanitary toilets exceeded 73%, the natural villages where rural domestic garbage is collected and treated remained stable at more than 90%, the rural domestic sewage treatment rate reached 28%, and more than 95% of villages have carried out village cleaning actions.
