Shanghai mayor: according to the changes in the epidemic situation, targeted to strengthen the stockpile of drugs and other resources

In the afternoon of January 15, the Shanghai Municipal Government held a press conference at the Expo Center after the closing of the first session of the 16th Shanghai People’s Congress. The newly elected mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng, met with reporters and answered their questions.

A reporter from Xinmin Evening News asked: How is Shanghai responding to the new stage of epidemic prevention and control, from the original “prevention of infection” to the current “health protection and prevention of serious illness”? Especially for the “old and young” and other vulnerable groups, what measures have been taken?

Gong Zheng said, the current epidemic prevention and control is facing a new situation and new tasks, entering a new phase. During this period, we adhere to the people first, life first, to protect health, prevention of serious illnesses on a more prominent position, focusing on three aspects of work: First, to do medical treatment.

First, do all the medical treatment work. Recently, the city has experienced a wave of infection peak. We strengthen the gateway to prevent serious illnesses, improve the dispensing of drugs, oxygen therapy, infusion, hospitalization and other treatment services in community health service centers, and enhance the capacity of primary medical treatment services. We strengthen the expansion of critical care resources in hospitals at both urban and municipal levels, coordinate the resources of various hospital departments, and rapidly upgrade the number of ICU beds to more than 7,500, with nearly 10,000 critical care medical personnel.

Secondly, we are doing our best to protect the public’s demand for medicines. Some time ago, some of the hot drugs were in short supply. We have taken many measures to support enterprises to produce at full capacity, broaden procurement channels, urgently organize the import of drugs, adhere to the priority of patients, precise placement, priority protection of hospitals, nursing homes and other key institutions with drug needs, and strive to alleviate the public dispensing, buy drugs difficult. Next, we also need to strengthen the resource reserves in a targeted manner to enhance the protection capacity according to the changes in the epidemic situation and drug supply.

Thirdly, we will do our best to strengthen the protection of key people. The “old and the young” are the top priority to protect health and prevent serious illness. All families love small, everyone will be old. We insist on prevention and treatment with both hands. By strengthening health monitoring of the elderly, maternity, infants and other vulnerable groups, strict closed management of nursing homes and care homes, and strengthening vaccinations for the elderly, we are reducing the risk of infection as much as possible. We establish a mechanism to dock key populations with medical institutions, open up green channels, and do our best to improve the effectiveness of rescue and treatment.
