On September 28, 2022, in Xindu District, Chengdu City, Xiangcheng Sports Center, after a full 27 days of continuous struggle, Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital Xindu Nucleic Acid Testing Gas Membrane Laboratory completed its mission and ushered in the moment of rest.

On September 1, in order to guarantee the full nucleic acid testing work in Chengdu and improve the city’s nucleic acid testing capacity, in accordance with the provincial health commission and Chengdu city deployment, all members of the Sichuan Provincial Nucleic Acid Testing Gas Membrane Laboratory Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital Team Geng, who had just returned from Hainan, were transferred to Xindu, to guard the fireworks Chengdu again on the battlefield.

September 2, 8:30, nucleic acid detection gas membrane laboratory (Xindu) officially opened. The laboratory consists of 8 parts, respectively 2 sample pre-processing office, 1 reagent preparation cabin, 3 nucleic acid extraction cabin, 2 amplification analysis cabin, has undertaken the task of nucleic acid testing in Chengdu, Yibin, Neijiang, Suining and other places. The laboratory nucleic acid testing team consists of 101 people from Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital and 123 people from 10 medical institutions directly under the province, a total of 224 team members, and later added 51 members from Jiangsu Aid Sichuan.

Since its arrival in the laboratory, the nucleic acid testing team has optimized the workflow in terms of prevention and control of hospital-acquired diseases, quality process improvement, and handling of difficult problems. The laboratory management system has been improved, the performance of PCR amplifiers has been verified, indoor quality control rules and retesting rules have been established, and several business trainings have been organized. The entire team continues to innovate the management model, continue to optimize the workflow, with the lowest human consumption, the shortest time, the highest efficiency to release the maximum detection capacity. After efforts, the daily inspection volume reached 68,000 tubes on September 4, and the highest daily inspection volume was raised to 76,600 tubes on September 5, which was a new high for the inspection volume of the gas film laboratory in Sichuan.

“Precise scheduling and maximizing the effectiveness of personnel and instruments is fundamental.” Huang Xiaobo, vice president of Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital and captain of the nucleic acid testing team, introduced that through the precise scheduling of specimens, manpower and time, thus maximizing the efficiency of personnel, no blockage in the whole chain of testing and minimizing manpower consumption.

It is reported that after returning from the support trip to Hainan in early August, the team went to Xindu after a short quarantine, and then ran non-stop to support Chengdu to fight the epidemic. After the epidemic stabilized in Chengdu, the team was rooted in Xindu, receiving and testing specimens from Yibin, Neijiang and Suining, providing strong protection and support for the province’s municipalities and states in the fight against the epidemic, and the team members, with tenacity and hard work, have been holding on to the last to today’s rest cabin. In order to continuously maintain the team’s combat power, the person in charge of the team and the security personnel find ways to ensure the rest time of the team members, while also through online birthday, online moon appreciation, online psychological counseling, plus autumn clothes, send plasters, add night snacks, plea sessions and other forms to relieve the anxiety of the team members, to maintain the team’s high morale and lasting combat power.
