January 4, 0-24 hours, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 9308 new confirmed cases, all local cases (3412 cases in Guangdong, 1285 cases in Guangxi, 807 cases in Fujian, 798 cases in Beijing, 510 cases in Shanghai, 437 cases in Hunan, 224 cases in Shanxi, 214 cases in Chongqing, 175 cases in Yunnan Hubei 174 cases, Jiangxi 150 cases, Tianjin 126 cases, Sichuan 124 cases, Shaanxi 122 cases, Henan 91 cases, Guizhou 90 cases, Heilongjiang 81 cases, Ningxia 74 cases, Xinjiang 65 cases, Shandong 63 cases, Jilin 58 cases, Zhejiang 53 cases, Hebei 36 cases, Liaoning 36 cases, Corps 35 cases, Jiangsu 27 cases, Inner Mongolia 26 cases, Tibet 8 cases, Gansu 4 cases, Anhui 3 cases). The new case is a native case. There was 1 new death case, a local case, in Shanxi; 35 new suspected cases, all local (22 cases in Fujian, 9 cases in Guizhou, 1 case in Beijing, 1 case in Shandong, 1 case in Guangdong, 1 case in Guangxi).

There were 2023 new cured cases discharged on that day, including 16 imported cases from abroad and 2007 local cases (1384 cases in Guangdong, 121 cases in Fujian, 104 cases in Beijing, 65 cases in Henan, 56 cases in Chongqing, 53 cases in Shanxi, 33 cases in Shaanxi, 20 cases in Yunnan, 19 cases in Heilongjiang, 19 cases in Shanghai, 19 cases in Shandong, 19 cases in Sichuan, 19 cases in Ningxia, 14 cases in Hunan, 14 cases in Tianjin (11 cases, 10 cases in Inner Mongolia, 6 cases in Liaoning, 6 cases in Tibet, 5 cases in Jiangsu, 5 cases in Jiangxi, 5 cases in Hubei, 5 cases in Guangxi, 4 cases in Zhejiang, 2 cases in Hebei, 1 case in Jilin, 1 case in Hainan, 1 case in Qinghai), and 614 cases of serious illnesses compared with the previous day.
There are 355 confirmed cases imported from abroad (no serious cases) and no existing suspected cases. The total number of confirmed cases is 29,295, the total number of cured cases is 28,940, and there are no fatal cases.

As of 24:00 on January 4, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 85,498 confirmed cases (including 4509 serious cases), 370,469 cumulative cured cases, 5,259 cumulative fatal cases, 46,825 cumulative reported confirmed cases, and 100 existing suspected cases.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases received from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan is 9470296 cases. Among them, 519188 cases in Hong Kong SAR (114331 discharges, 12081 deaths), 2907 cases in Macao SAR (2607 discharges, 61 deaths), 8948201 cases in Taiwan (13742 discharges, 15338 deaths).
